Breast Lift
Breast lift or mastoplexy is designed to elevate
or reshape the breast providing a more youthful appearance.

A mastoplexy implies the reshaping and lifting of
the breast and can be combined with a decrease or
increase in breast size. The objective of this plastic
surgery is to rearrange the breast tissue, shifting
the position of the nipple and tightening the skin
so that breast firmness is augmented. This provides
a more natural and youthful contour of the chest.
When it comes to a breast lift, Dr. Chavarria utilizes
a small incision technique to limit scarring and improve
the aesthetic appearance of the breast.
This surgery is performed under general anesthesia.
Depending on the extent of the procedure, it takes
from 1 hour and a half to 3 hours for doctor Chavarría
to finish the whole process.
The incision marks the region from which the breast
skin will be taken out and signals the new location
for the nipple, which will be moved into a higher
position once the excess skin is removed. When it
is has been taken out, the skin around the areola
is taken down and the breast is given a new shape.
Once the process is finished, stitches are used to
close the incisions and are usually placed in a vertical
line downwards from the nipple, along the lower crease
of the breast.
You can expect swelling and bruising, hence, your
chest area will be uncomfortable for a couple of days
but you will be able to be up and about. The discomfort
you feel can be lessened by prescribed medication
from your doctor.
After a few days, the elastic bandage/bra will be
replaced by lighter covering, which you will have
to wear around the clock. Your sutures will be removed
after a week or two after to the operation.
After a breast lift, Dr. Chavarria usually recommends
a recovery period of at least 8 days that you will
have to spend in Costa Rica. Keep in mind that the
time you spend in the country can be expanded to your
needs especially if you wish to go on a little vacation
before having surgical treatment performed and take
the opportunity to see some of our natural wonders.
